So, you might have seen since last night a new video uploaded on Seduce The Heaven You Tube Channel with behind the scenes footage and generally a more relaxed and funny side of the band. Watching it, so many things came back in mind from these two days of shooting the video clip -things we didn't have the chance to record with our personal cameras or cell phones, unfortunately. So i thought to talk a little about these things :-)
DAY 1 | AT THE BURNT FACTORY
Well, i cannot say i was really excited when i woke up that morning at 07:00 a.m. by the sound of the alarm clock in order to get ready for the shootings. Sleepy as hell, nervous as it was my first video clip experience ever, feeling cold even inside my house because of my need for sleep (plus the 23rd of December 2011 was a REALLY cold day). Alex was following me wherever i went, filming my every move with his camera even when i was brushing my teeth. Thank God i didn't see any of these scenes in the video :-D
Now, i was sleepy to death but this didn't make me skip my favorite habbit (yesh yesh food). A greatly roasted chicken was waiting for me in the oven so i went to have a little chat with it (yes, so early in the morning. Well, when i don't get enough sleep i get enough food).
So, two hours later we were ready to go. We met the rest of the guys near the location where the shootings would take place. We had no idea what the place would look like, the director (Domenik Papaemmanouel) had prepared it all -and the surprise was big and great. By the time we arrived, the guys were almost sleeping. I remember Vagelis just standing in a place near the rest of the guys with his eyes closing every now and then, then he was drinking some coffee and then again the same was happening. Chris was not talking at all, just walking around silent. Alex running around talking to everyone (this guy is self-recharged, i just don't get it), John was really ok (John is always cool) preparing his stuff, consuming some energy drinks.
Sinnik was also sleepy. The place was really great: an old, burnt factory. The windows were broken so there was nothing to keep the cold wind outside. We were all shaking, walking around trying to get our bones warm.
While the director, the guys and some friends that had come to help were preparing the set, setting the electricity we needed for the cameras, music etc i was outside the factory, half sitting in the director's car, half outside so that Margianna Katsamatsa (our make up artist for the video clip) could make me look hot. You know, a lot of make up, painting, painting, painting :-D She did a great job under really difficult circumstances. And she is a sweetie pie as a person, of course.
So far, i was wearing my casual clothes but now it was time to wear my dress for the video. It was so cold i was already feeling exhausted (first time in my life had i felt exhausted from cold) and changing my clothes was not even crossing my mind. I was like "ok, i prefer to appear with my jeans, my sneakers and casual blue jacket" (quite metal, uh? lol)
After a lot of thought, i took off my jacket for a while and gradually i got used to the temperature. Hiding behind a wall i finally wore my action clothes. Now there was another problem: It was almost impossible to walk, move or headbang on the factory's burnt floor. The ground was burnt and the concrete had turned into dust from the fire so my high heeled shoes were drowning in the ashes and i fell down several times. Some time later we also had some natural air blowing, spreading the ashes all around us (well, it was a nice dust effect for the video but not for our hair, skin, clothes etc).
By the time we were shooting, we were awake, kept feeling cold but made it bravely. First, we had only band in action scenes, then we had full band in action scenes, then just the singers, then the musicians, one by one. John and his cool drumming gave our director the best shots (i told you before, John is reaaaally cool) :-D It was really difficult for me to focus each time one of the guys was saying something funny or whenever bloopers happened. Thankfully, the director was really patient. I couldn't really stand cause i was so cold i was shaking, my shoes were getting me down often and i was not really able to do a cool performance. Not to mention my wet nose and the packets of tissues i used that day to wipe it every 5 minutes. Next time, i am not doing video clips if it is winter and the shootings are in old, wet, cold places (well, all that's cool about metal lol). I managed to perform some headbanging, stepping barefoot on a small carpet John had brought for his drumset :-D
By the end of the day, we had ended our shootings at the specific locations. Got back home with our muscles aching.
I cannot tell how many hours i slept. Next day things would be slightly better.
DAY 2 | GREENSCREEN SHOOTING
Woke up normally this time, feeling more relaxed, got ready and met the crew and Vagelis at the director's house at 09:30 a.m. The guys made some coffee (i had eaten a load of food again that morning so i needed no coffee) and started talking a bit about the scenes, how we want it to be, the greenscreen stuff, how close the camera would be, what the director wanted us to do, helpful moves etc.
Then Margianna started doing Vagelis' make up so that he does his scenes. Jokes were not missing with Alex teasing him all the time but he finally looked nice in smokey eyes! Vagelis did his scenes with many funny moments in between (like the one with Britney Spears you can see in the video) and many more i have to keep confidential :-P
My time had come, Margianna made my make up so nicely. I looked at the mirror and what i saw was really similar to Natalie Portman's make up in the Black Swan movie poster. I fixed my hair (too bad i hadn't discovered curles back then, i like them more than straight hair), wore my first dress (a short one of white colour) and stood in front of the camera. Alex kept making faces to make me laugh while i was trying to work but i managed not to pay attention (though it was hard). At least we were not outside in the cold this day.
Changed again, wore the big, long dress me and my mother had been preparing some days ago. It was actually a corset on top, then two long skirts (a black one underneath and a purple one above it) plus a big, internal tutu just to make the dress have a biger maze right at the ending of the corset. Unfortunately, i didn't get the chance to take a nice picture of it and the long tale of the dress cannot be seen on the video. We spread the dress around on the floor shaping a circle around me with the dress' tale and i lied on it. The director took some scenes with the camera being right above me. Meanwhile. Margianna was styling my hair, refreshing my make up every now and then.
This day ended relatively quickly. It took some time till we got to see our first official video clip fullfilled but it was worth the time, really. And of the next one is going to be even better as we learned so many things through this wonderful experience!
Shall keep you posted for our next video clip also with our new growl singer. It won't be long :-)
